So you've found the perfect property but the chances are that there will be one room in the house that's just a bit small. But with the wide range of decorating products and storage solutions on the market today that needn't be a problem.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
White is always right
One of the easiest ways to make a room appear bigger is to choose a light colour for the walls, doors and window frames. And with a zillion shades of white to choose from these days, that shouldn't be a problem!
Light it up
Try and take advantage of natural light as much as possible. And add some sparkle to overhead lights with a white beaded or shell shade.
Throw it out
De-clutter! If you haven't used it or looked at it for a year you don't need it! And the more you de-clutter the better you'll feel.
A bit of thought in choosing your furniture will make a huge difference. For example, choose items like ottomans, that be used as a seat or a table. Or search out furniture with built-in storage.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Strategically placed mirrors will create the illusion of more space. And don't be shy! A huge mirror on an end wall will open up the room.
With limited space you may be tempted to jam-pack books and ornaments onto shelves. Don't! Leaving gaps will help create that sense of space.
Knock it down!
And if all else fails, and you have the room, the budget and the permission to do it, consider knocking through into an adjacent space and starting again - problem solved!
