The popular beach-side suburb of Glenelg is located on the shore of the beautifully named Holdfast Bay.
A bit like a British seaside town, there are many hotels and restaurants, cafes and amusements, including The Jetty. It even had its own Luna Park once upon a time.
Adelaide's only tram stops off here. Getting into the city by road or bus is easy, too.
Even the residential properties reflect a bygone age, with fabulous, renovated Art Deco houses - some split into units - and old stone cottages. You'll also discover plenty of beachside apartments.
An interesting fact about Glenelg - it's spelled the same backwards!
