It may be a small town but Meandarra, in the Western Downs region, has the largest storage facilities for Queensland-grown wheat. In fact, agriculture is a major industry here, with grain production, cattle and sheep.
Meandarra is also known as a great spot for fishing and camping, with Brigalow Creek loved for its water-lilies, golden perch and jewfish. Camping is permitted in that area, too.
Leo Gardon Apex Park is a popular spot for picnics, with its free electric barbecues, and Meandarra is a great place to pick up a unique hand-crafted souvenir, or painting, as it is home to several artists.
