Situated in the Gulf Country region of Queensland, there's a whole lot more to Mt Isa than you think.
For starters, it's the second largest city in Australia geographically, covering an area of 43,310 square kilometres. With a population of around 21,000, it's also a major service centre for North West Queensland.
While delivering the real Outback experience, Mt Isa is far from being behind the times! It's home to major retail chains, including K-Mart, Coles, Harvey Norman, Super Cheap Auto, Woolworths, Autobarn, Rockmans, Best & Less and more.
Mt Isa's industry is largely based on mining, namely copper and silver-lead zinc. But tourism is also an important and growing industry here, with the town known as the Rodeo Capital of Australia.
There's plenty to do in Mt Isa, with a good selection of sports clubs and facilities, a cinema complex, skate park and aquatic centre, to name just a few.
