A town of 3000 or so residents, Myrtleford is 46km from Wangaratta and is the largest town in the Alpine Shire.
The town has a thriving economy based largely on agriculture and timber. Wine grapes, hops, nuts, beef and dairy cattle, and fruit and vegetables are all farmed here.
There are several wineries in the Myrtleford area, including the traditional Italian Michelini Wines close to the town centre and Gapsted Wines, just a few kilometres away.
The town is well served by educational and medical facilities, and boasts more than its fair share of great annual festivals.
