Located 240km from Perth, and 31km from Donnybrook, Balingup is a predominantly agricultural area, known for its beef cattle and dairy farming.

Balingup has something to offer whatever the season, from cool misty mornings in winter, the glorious colours of autumn, and the smell of fresh cut hay in summer. There's also an abundance of wildlife, including cockatoos, kookaburras, frogs and kangaroos.

One of the few towns through which the popular Bibbulmun Track passes, Balingup welcomes many tourists, and also hosts annual rural festivals, including the Small Farm Field Day in late April and the Medieval Carnivale in August.
