Portland (Post Code: 3305)

Located on the far south-west coast of Victoria, mid-way between port fairy and Nelson, Portland was the site of Victoria's first settlement, back in 1834, and has remained busy and successful, largely due to being the only deep-water sea port between Adelaide and Melbourne.

The sheltered harbour is home to busy wharves, a marina and shipping berths, and is a popular spot with the tourists.

Much of the commercial centre, with its many retails outlets and cafes, overlooks the foreshore, marina and Nuns Beach.

The Port of Portland received public funding for an A$18 million overpass, to improve access for heavy traffic and Glenelg Shire Council recently adopted a plan for the redesign and development of the foreshore precinct, including a new marina.
