Stanthorpe (Post Code: 4380)

A rural town located in the elevated 'granite belt' country near the New South Wales border, Stanthorpe is 170km south-west of central Brisbane.

Over the last 30 years the area has become a mecca for wineries and purpose-built guest houses, attracting tens of thousands of tourists every year.

Founded by tin miners, Stanthorpe was settled in the early 1870s and, when the tin prices fell, many of the miners turned to agriculture, helping create the Stanthorpe we know today.

The Granite Belt is a stunning location, rugged and diverse, boasting amazing national parks, prehistoric granite boulders, creeks, breathtaking views and, of course, the many award-winning wineries.
